We seek a research associate to assist with several quantitative fisheries projects involving stock assessment methods, harvest policy analysis and simulation modeling. A primary activity will be providing technical support for an expert panel whose goal is to evaluate procedures for establishing and using escapement goals for the management of salmon populations in the Arctic-Yukon-Kuskokwim region of Alaska. The technical support will include stock-recruitment analysis and the development of Management Strategy Evaluation style simulation models. Other projects include working with a team at the QFC that is evaluating stock assessment methods for Great Lakes fisheries, and assisting with the development of training courses in quantitative fisheries methods.

Competitive candidates will have a PhD in fisheries science or a related discipline with a strong record of research productivity in quantitative methods. Salary $45-50,000 per year plus benefits. Initial appointment will be for up to 18-24 months with the possibility of an extension.
