Maximum Likelihood Estimation |
||
The Center offers periodic short courses, workshops, and online courses in quantitative fisheries. Courses Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) course is a non-credit, on-line course for Natural Resources and Ecology. The course covers nonlinear model fitting, estimation of uncertainty in model estimates (e.g., likelihood profiling), and methods of inference using multiple models (e.g., AIC model averaging). This course will provide the foundation needed to understand more advanced statistical methods, such as generalized linear modeling and Bayesian statistics. The course consists of seven primary units and a supplemental math review unit. Worked exercises and assignments using ecological and fishery related data occur throughout the units. Student progress through the course will be entirely self-paced.
